Daniel Lehan has been described as a 'bob a job, odd job kind of artist.'

He has worked on a wide range of visual arts projects, including collaborations with writers, dancers and musicians.  He currently works with galleries and museums to deliver creative projects to children, young adults, the elderly, and those in prison.

Daniel's works often begin with simple instructions that any man, or woman, in the street can follow: ‘Make a sign saying what you want’, ‘write down your darkest thoughts’, ‘collect unusual stories from the newspaper’, ‘draw a pie chart of your emotional life’.

He uses understated calm and reassuring charm to encourage people to interact and create these works with him.  The end products are a rich patchwork of thoughts and ideas gathered up from the minutiae of people’s lives.

For this retrospective to celebrate his 50th Birthday, Daniel has selected some of his artworks and given them to his favorite artists and performers to interpret in their own way. On 12th of March in the Montague Arms, the artists will present a variety show of new live performances, music and poetry inspired by Daniel’s ideas.

At the end of the night, Lehan will present a short lecture entitled ‘What I Have Learnt After 50 Years On This Planet : There are Four Rules For A Successful Life, which the experience of life has taught me …’

The evening takes places in The Montague Arms, which has been described by the London Paper as ‘The best pub in the country’ and was voted number one pub by The Rough Pub Guide : A Celebration of the Great British Boozer. Artist Frog Morris curates an eccentric mix of art, music and comedy on the second Thursday of each month in the pub.
